What's Happening

Dear APBA Volunteers, Clubs, Partners, and Members,
As we mark more than 120+ years of powerboat racing, we are reminded that this sport is not sustained by engines alone—it runs on the dedication, passion, and teamwork of thousands of people who make “We Are Boat Racing” a reality.
APBA is proud to be a not-for-profit organization, operating with only a small staff and backed by an army of volunteers who devote their time and energy to keep propellers turning. From late-night zoom calls to hashing out rules and regulations, to committees voting together to uphold safety protocols, your commitment ensures that our sport remains legitimate, exciting, and safe.
Our clubs and members are the lifeblood of APBA. From the big clubs like Race World Offshore, to the dedicated teams of the Carolina Virginia Racing Association hosting stock outboard races, and even the Stikine River Rats Racing Club bringing a special boat race event to Wrangell, AK every year—each club represents a unique heartbeat in our racing family. Together, over 80 clubs fundraise in their communities and organize more than 120+ races annually, dedicating thousands of hours and creating unforgettable experiences for racers, communities, and fans alike.
People often ask, “What does APBA do?” The simple answer: we run boat races. The complex answer: we have a passionate group grinding every day to make this sport thrive—partnering with clubs, welcoming new cities, and shepherding new members into our vibrant, sometimes crazy, but always passionate community.
Our door is always open to this incredible organization we call a family. We believe the next phone call, the next email, or the next handshake could be the newest member of “We Are Boat Racing.” If you share our passion, join us—because the future of powerboat racing starts with you.
On behalf of APBA, thank you for your unwavering dedication. Your efforts have built a legacy that honors our heritage while driving progress and inclusivity for the future. Here’s to the next chapter of innovation, safety, and community—because We Are Boat Racing.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
APBA TEAM
