Lake of the Ozarks Shootout Committee Overturns American Ethanol Disqualification

Karma that the crappy ethanol fuel caused burnt piston and wouldn't allow another run.
Not the best advertising

You guys should not be surprised. Rules get bent all the time.

At least they did not add a new class for the DQ'd run or did they?

Yep, they did.

The "Go faster than is allowed to start and get DQ'd, but say you didn't see the flag, so you still win" class.......

I guess the part that really gets me is if I were going faster than allowed and got DQ'd, I wouldn't even think of fining a complaint that I didn't see the flag. Why does that make any difference? I don't care if the flag person had a brain fade attack and didn't wave any flag. If the person on the radar gun at the start clocks you going to fast, and you get DQ'd, why should it anything to do with any flag color make any difference?

It was extremely poor sportsmanship to file the complaint about the flag color, and it was worse to overturn the DQ for that implied error.

Serena Williams lost yesterday.

Maybe it will be overturned on account of everybody expected her to win and she is influential.

I was talking to one of the competitors from the event. He said he offered to drive Garth's Skater through for him on Sunday, (after they undid the DQ for going too fast), and told Garth he would go through the start at 100+ to get the Top Gun award. Just say he didn't see the flag. (Garth finished second at 194 with a legal start below the 40MPH maximum allowed).

Well, to me, I have a very tough time understanding.

It's like using a foot wedge, or improving a tough lie in golf. Or hammering someone accidently in a game of street basketball and not calling the foul on yourself. Honestly and fairness is important. That's the meaning of Sportsmanship. And this is a sport.........
