OSS at LOTO...

Thats where we got started. Addicted after only making 2 laps in practice, and blowing a powerhead. 4 months later we owned a SVL.

If anyone is on the fence and is looking for a racer to show them "whats up" Let me know. Jason Zolecki that co-ownes Lake Shores Marina just across from the race site is available. He is a super nice guy and would help set up the boat, get it ready, get it inspected, help understand the rules, etc.

I wish my boat was setup for it. I would love to. Next year I am in.

We will have some helmets and jackets there if anyone wants to run and needs to borrow that stuff....I also have BRAND NEW SRP life jackets, capsule vests, & seatbelts....

Trim'd up, what all does it need?? I'm sure he would help you with the set up!!
Looking at the rules quickly. I need to lose the glass winshield, add a radio, compass, and replace my fire supression. Install the new rev limiter that's laying in the garage, and borrow a lifeline and helmet from Ryan. ;) It said something about seats too. Are factory Baja bolsters legal? It probably wouldn't hurt to add another 4-6' on too. It is only 24':sifone:

The glass can be taped up, hand held vhf, hand held gps, and some fire extinguishers and your in business. Sounds like a quick trip to west marine and a couple hundred buck and your in business.....

your boat is the perfect boat for this venue. just come on down there are enough people around to help you make the race, what ryan doesn,t have i,m sure you could borrow from someone running sundays race :driving:

I just seen in the rules that I needed and Engine fire supression system and attatched compass. I already have GPS and 2 extinguishers. My windshield is already covered in vinyl too.
Tell me about the classes. Can I prop down and lower my rev limiter to stay in class 3 or 4, or do is it just the average lap speeds that matter? I figure my short boat would be more competitive in the lower classes.
What's it cost for the pro-am classes? I seen something about insurance requirements. What are they? I know my insurance won't cover my boat in a race.

Thanks guys!
Chad

Go for it chad we'll be chearing you on.

I just checked and it looks like my biggest issue is that my boat is slow LOL. I ran the slip ratio thing and my best speed in an old 36' apache is alledgedly 65.15 mph (best I have ever seen on hand held is 68.1 mph so not that far off). It looks like I would also need a physical oh yeah and they forgot about the part of selling your wife on the idea:boxing_smiley:

They go by lap speeds and would guess you would be a class 4 boat. It sounds to me like your boat is ready to run. No boat has INS. while racing.... The entry is $250.00 plus $100 per crew member. The $10,000 purse, checkered flags & trophies to all Pro/Am classes 1-4

If you want to go racing, just do it. Jimbo, George, Ryan, and others will all help you. If you have any nerves about driving in tight with the others in corners, just don't. You can always start on the outside and lurk until comfortable.

There will be many to help and give advice. Remember, there are only so many chances, always take them if you can.....:sifone:
