    My 1977 has been sitting for years, and I am going to start working on her soon. I want to do a 4" suspension lift and buy a new glass body to go on the new frame I have, what lifts have any of you guys used? Thank you, Steve.

    mine on the yj is fabtech, go to quadratec.com and see what they recommend ....you cant go wrong there, every question is answered.

    Been spending more time on that site than the boat sites since I bought the Ruby in Nov.

    Mostly high school and college kids though. Don't call your Jeep a car, say you like chrome acc. and prefer round bumpers. They are kinda touchy about that stuff.

    lol, i like the forum on quadratec too, they have a section that has faq's and hotlinks to the answers...not to mention some great pricing.

    On my YJ, I used Rancho 2" lift springs with a spring over to gain about 6 inches of lift. More than enough to clear 35"s and a much better ride than the real tall lift springs. Stay away form body lifts or blocksif you can.

    Fabtech makes great stuff but I have been out of it for a couple years so I a sure there is newer, better stuff out there now. Here is my old YJ with the spring over and 36" IROK's.

    I have an 81 cj7 with a 4" rough country lift. It was about $150 bucks cheaper than all the other brands when I bought it years ago. I did get the 4" of lift with the system but the name says it all, it rides rough. The addition of the 406 and 350 turbo did help the ride up front. This is a goofy picture but it is the only one I can find on this computer. Plenty of clearance for 33 thornbirds.

    Thank's WOTW2E, I want a nice ride so I'll probadly skip that brand. I've been think about the skyjacker or the rubicon express lifts. I want to be able to run 33's.

    If you want the best ride possible, do a spring over with the stock springs. It will get you 4-5" of lift and do a shackle reversal on the front springs. That will get you about the best ride you are going to get in a leaf spring vehicle with a 95" wheelbase.

    my fabtech is 2.5 with spanners and I got 32x11.5 under it an it rides like a dream, stock Rubicon shocks

    The TJ's ride great but they have a coil suspension, not the leaf springs that the CJ/YJ's have. You can do a coil conversion but you are looking at big $$(Jeep Big Money, not boat big money) to do that. You will never get a CJ/YJ to ride as nice as TJ but you can get close with the springover and shackle reversal using the stock springs.

    Over the years I'v had flat fenders, cj's, and even an old wagon, but since they came out I've always wanted a TJ... for the ride. Something you can drive to and from work, kids soccer games, to the beach...etc
    This was my neighbors, bought it for 300 bucks. A front axle housing, suspension and steering, a front clip and some paint and I was done for under $1500. Price shopping with patience from craigslist, ebay and Jeep fourms was a big help.
    As you can see from the last pic...My daughter loves it and has taken it over.

    I LOVE my Jeep! All I've had are TJs, but I'm going to pick up a new one in a couple years for sure! Bought a 97 new right out of college, then got a Grand Cherokee, then bought an 03 that I sold to get my boat-pullin' F350. Couldn't stand driving that beast every day, so a couple years ago I found another 97 Sport for $5k with 120,000 on it...damn things hold their value like nothing else! I'm up over 140k now...and I cannot imagine myself in another vehicle...other than a new Jeep. I take the curtains and carpet out in May, and last year I didn't put them on until the first week of November. I love just tossing the mountain bike in the back and hittin the trails after work. Can't wait for some warm weather to drop the top!

    Calling for 70-80's this weekend. Door and curtains are coming off!

    I use mine through the winter too. Fabricated this ski rack last Saturday for the storm we just go here on the east coast. Left town on Sunday afternoon.

    I have had a CJ,YJ,TJ, and now a JK with 35's. The CJ brings back the most memories, I think the TJ was the best one. The JK is nice as it only needs a 2.5 lift to run 35's.

    Good luck with your project. I just got the new quadratec catalog and they seem to have the most stuff. If you want to checkout another forum other then jeepforum, you can try JK-Forum.com. JK oriented, but there is also a channel for CJ's.
