    Actually,back then,the Johnson boat and it's sistership,the Evinrude boat,were cutting edge high tech.The Evinrude boat was even more trick,had a 2 stroke stern drive,an OMC V-4 outboard powerhead inside the boat coupled to an early OMC outdrive. I believe it even had a primitive oil injection system,long before anyone else thought of it. They did not call them cats,their term was "gull wing".Both were pretty ugly,but kind of collectable now in a weird sort of way,I guess,especially the Evinrude version.

    I think you put a couple of brackets on there with a couple of Verados and see what that hull is capable of.
