As of the end of the day tomorrow, I am officially unemployed. 6 yrs. and they can't find a new spot for me.
I feel bad for you guys that are there right now, and it wasn't your choosing.
This one was my choice, making the relocation out West where the wife has a MUCH better opportunity with her promotion.
Moving Co. comes Fri. to pack, and Sat to load the truck.
As soon as they are done on Sat. we're hitting the road.
Boat in tow, and two dogs in the backseat of the Avalanche. (already have tranquilizer from the vet).
Trailer was just completely gone through , replaced lights, wiring, all bearings, tires...
almost 1900 miles. I'm guessing at least 4 days, maybe 5.

Good news is that I've applied for only one job out there so far, and got a call tonite to set up an interview for when I get there.
I guess in this chitty economy I should be thankful for that at least.

Josh, I remember your pics of heading to Cali, and I hope to do something similar.
But yeah 1900 miles in 4-5days with two dogs, bathroom breaks for the wife, hauling the boat, and I'm almost twice your age...
Co. is paying for hotel rooms, food, and mileage.
The moving Co. said 7-10 days to get all our stuff there, so when I get to the house, I'll be living for the first several days like living in a really nice tent.
No Cable, No internet. Air matress and a few blankets and fold-out chairs.
Mini TV picking up whatever I can on air.
I'm not in a huge rush to get there too much earlier than all my "stuff".
Just glad my wife is flying back tomorrow afternoon - 3 1/2 weeks is a LONG time.

You are probably going the paducah way and not St. Louis, right?

Probably be easier to stay on the highways, and closer to possibilities of hotels/restaurants.
I made the run from here to St. Lou to buy my boat, and there is not much in between even on the highways. Trying to run through South-West KY on St. Routes would be even worse.
Might have to go a few hours to find anything better than a flea-bag motel.

    Good luck my friend..
I was always a firm believer that anyone wants a job,, they will find one..

But if it takes you 4 days for 1900 miles.. hmm.... GPS out of batteries??/

30 hours comfortable cruising.. (if you don't get lost "boy"... )

    Drive and get there safely....

Good luck on your new venture. 4-5 days for 1900 miles...perfect. Some quality time enjoying the trip with your wife...priceless. Take it easy go'n down. 500 miles a day with a trailer in tow is respectable.

You have to do better than that, 3300 miles in 4 days, Wisconsin to the Keys and back
    Run until it sounds expensive

So does this mean I have to drive out there to collect that beer you owe me? I'll wait until winter next year to collect...

    Take care and good luck.

I took the same route, well at least the part from st louis, to flagstaff. it was somewhat interesting. lots of fields. i wish I would have stopped at LOTO when I was going through the area. You should definitly stop at the cadillac ranch in texas. that was cool. Do not stop in smamrock texas. you cannot even get dinner on a weeknight after 7pm. and I would not recommend Gallup NM either unless you have a huge desire to be the only non native american at the casino, which really is slots, because they had no table games. Just take your time. see the sights. most people never get the chance to drive across the country.
