Growing up in Portland Oregon , and fishing out the mouth of the Columbia River almost every year, makes you really appreciate what those guys will go through to try and save people's lives. The Columbia River Bar is one of the most treacherous waters in the world. Over 2000 large ships have sank there, and it's the home of the Coast Guards National Motor Lifeboat School.
Watching them train when the Bar is really rough is amazing....
