Propeller injuries:huh:
In a third accident around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, a man was hit by a boat propeller just north of Big Coppitt Key, said Coast Guard Key West spokesman Lt. Jay Hagwood.
The Coast Guard did not identify the injured man.
Hagwood said three people were aboard the boat, named New Knight, but it wasn't clear whether the man fell from the vessel or was already in the water when he was struck by the propeller. When a Coast Guard crew arrived, it found others aboard the boat applying pressure to the man's wounds with T-shirts and whatever cloth they had on board, Hagwood said. The man was taken ashore to waiting paramedics, and then to Lower Keys Medical Center, Hagwood said.
The Coast Guard confirmed Monday the man received stitches at the hospital and was released.
