Good morning Last swimming lesson for Eliza this morning, then hang another ceiling fan then jump in truck back to the Keys. Hopefully before Friday rush hour snafu.
So, if I make it thru this decommissioning of my Family business is there any cheap rentals in the Keys for a couple months. I will need to get out of town. My customers are being awesome, but they are very upset.
A couple weeks ago, a guy named Zach broke down in a sailboat while motoring in a channel north of Port Clinton. It's shallow and close to shore in town, so he threw out the anchor and walked to go get what he needed to fix it. Meanwhile, the anchor let go and he drifted to the beach. Now he is stuck hard. A group of people showed up yesterday and tried to work it loose and in the process they broke the mast off. Then they came back and removed the centerboard/keel and plugged the bolt holes. Apparently they are trying to get enough volunteers to dig it out and push it. Here is a live cam of the spot and the boat. It pans. Also in the shot is Davis Besse to the west. Calm as it gets this morning. https://www.shoresandislands.com/communities/north-shores/port-clinton/#pc-beach
I had less pity before I heard the story. It was a one-two punch. Not sure what the anchor failure was about. It was July 24 and it was not windy for Lake Erie. Must have been a strong current and something happened while he was gone. In his mind, he was moored while he went for supplies. Maybe someone didn't appreciate someone being anchored next to the channel.
