SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. —
The bodies of two people missing after a boating accident on the Delta in San Joaquin County on Sunday have been recovered, the sheriff’s office said on Tuesday.
The boat overturned and submerged just after 5 p.m. on the San Joaquin River at Prisoners Point, the sheriff’s office said.
One person was taken from the water with major injuries and flown by Life Flight to the hospital. The person was said to be in critical condition.
Search efforts for two other people who witnesses said were in the water were suspended because of darkness on the first day of the search, the sheriff's office said.
The search efforts continued and involved the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team and Boating Safety Unit.
Editor's Note: The sheriff's office initially said two vessels were involved before clarifying that information was incorrect and there was just one vessel.
