My season is officially over :(

Brought the boat to it's Winter home today and got it tucked in nice and tight. So unless I move a bunch of race cars around to get it back out, my season is officially over. Had a couple issues the last time out a couple weeks ago so I'm looking forward to pulling it apart anyway. Time to buy some blowers I think But isn't Winter supposed to be when boating gets cheaper?? lol

I suck at leaving stuff alone....lol.

I ended up at Great Lakes almost every weekend that I had the boat out. I have pretty much no use for Grand Haven aside from a Southern waypoint when I feel like burning some fuel. Muskegon just has so much more to offer. I have my daughter with me nearly all the time so it's important that I have plenty of activities for her to enjoy. There are a multitude of beach/swimming options in Muskegon and a ton of boater-friendly businesses right on the water. Restaurants/bars with dock workers on hand are pretty nice on the weekends when I don't have my daughter. Have I mentioned how much I hate the thought of tying off to the wall in GH? lol It was nice to be able to pull out of the marina and get up on plane right away too. The no-wake of GH/Spring Lake would get real old with me fast. Thrown on top of that the candy store and hot dog joint right in front of the marina and it's pretty much a done deal Oh...and the cops/Coast Guard in Muskegon were great. They're happy to have you there as opposed to looking for a reason to put you on the trailer which is typically what you'd find in GH.

In the interest of full disclosure, I've been friends with Great Lakes' manager for many years and that's definitely what got me to even consider doing my boating in Muskegon. Now that I have, I can't imagine going anywhere else. All of the employees at Great Lakes were great. My daughter absolutely loves the place and all the workers which makes my weekends a WHOLE lot easier....lol. I had issues with my 4wd that I didn't get around to fixing until the end of the season so I was having them take my boat on & off the trailer with the forklift every weekend. They always took their time and worked with my boat as if it was their own. I really appreciated that. I'm not trying to sound like a Great Lakes commercial....I was just extremely pleased with the service and in a time when customer service nearly always takes a back seat to the bottom line it was pretty refreshing and deserves to be mentioned. I made some great new friends out there at the marina this year. Can't wait for Spring!

I had never spent any time out there until this year. All of my past boating experience had been down in Grand Haven/Spring Lake. I heard some similar stories about the previous owners though. The company that owns it now owns something like 30 marinas around the country. They pretty much just let Jeff do his thing. From what I understand every aspect of the business is doing very well since he took over. Jeff is a good guy. It helps that he's a bonafide gear-head....lol.
