I have a new toy.......

Just dropped it off at Brian41's shop to get the last few things dialed in. Looking good to be in the water next weekend for the fireworks. All thats left when I get it back is to put the engine hatch on and the numbers.

Just stopped by Brian41's after having my arm scraped out. (from the people doctor to the boat doctor) She starts right up and sounds good. Brian pointed out a couple things I need to do before it hits the water though. Had a bad o-ring and a ton of crap and water in the fuel system.

Not surprised on the fuel system.

Ask me how I know. :)

My old Wellcraft had a little water in the tank when I got it many moons ago. (Would run, but as soon as the bow came up getting on plane it would die because the fuel and water would move in the filter.)
I was getting it out using the water fuel separator and a jar, but ended up pulling the sending unit and sucking the bubble of water off the bottom aft of the tank with a hand pump. You could see the water bubble on the bottom.
Dumping the fuel water filter over and over works too. But not as fast or thorough as direct removal from the tank.

definite progress albeit spent the day on a setback. Brian said I needed to do the bellows. I-joint bellow didn't look bad, shifter bellow was history. So I procured the necessary parts and embarked on the project. Found the previous owner had encountered the difficulty of changing the shift cable bellow and had overcame it by filling the bellow with silicone. Also found the shift cable housing was history. Sent a couple 911 texts and a friend of mine had one in his garage. So now at midnight the boat has new bellows and shift cable. My friend is going to adjust it for me in the morning. Also replaced the temp gauge and got the tach working today. Ran it on the hose for a good half hour too. Tomorrow, have cable adjusted, put drive on and engine hatch and go to DMV then the ramp. I definitely prefer doing bravo bellows over alpha's.......

Good luck!

one step foreward two steps back... went to DMV to get title and numbers, Came from Philly. Pa. is a notary state, guy just signed the title and I didn't catch it. Sooooo...trying to get ahold of the guy I bought it from, till then its a fiberglass planter.

Well, I guess that's one way of doing it...

That sucks. I would suggest CG documenting the boat if it becomes an issue, but I've heard that can take over a year. But, if the application is in process, you may be able to use it under a technicality that it has been applied for. But, I'm not sure if OH or MI still require a state reg. I'm just brainstorming here to try to get you on the water.

And so am I! I got lucky. searched ebay and found a motor the guy was selling. His number was in the listing and I just talked to him.
