Crocs on the Dock

I'm trying to figure out how big that one laying across the ramp is from the sizes of other stuff. Approximately 14 feet??????

If he is a big one he's go about 9' or 10'...their a bit smaller than their overseas cousins.

If that thing is only 10', then it's an awfully small azz that going to fit into that white kayak!!!!

You can get a close estimate of their length eying the distance from their sub lineal terramites(Halverson's rib in swamp talk) to their pre lineal stagafites (Herrapins curve)...common knowledge in Florida...

I took a tape to the picture, measured the hole in the white kayak at 1 1/4". Then, measure my chair and the hole between the arms is 21". That makes the scale approximately 1" = 2'. So, you measure the croc at 8 1/8" means he's approximately 16' long. Allowing for the nature of photography where closer objects appear larger than the objects farther away, I put him at approximately 14'.

Few American crocs in Florida grow to lengths exceeding about 13 feet, but much greater lengths are possible. The biggest croc documented in Florida is a recently discovered one that wildlife biologists reliably estimated at 16 feet. In that size range, a crocodile must be respected for what it is -- a creature that is likely to regard humans as prey.

How dare you comfligamfly my findings....I went to a highly esteemed school (mostly at night.....when no one else was around)

But that ole boy is well short of 13 feet.....the FWC would have sh*t themselves silly. There used to be a big one at the BLUE HOLE in Big Pine Key ...but someone killed it.

So now you're gonna cry Crocodile tears?????:(

I'll believe it when I see you holding a tape on it.......
