Cometic Head Gaskets

Cometic Gaskets

We have switched to Cometics and they seem to be working awesome! We sell them for about $88.00ea, but I would install new every time (just to be sure). Like these guys say, $180 now might save you a heart attack later down the road. -Eric

The finish is coming off between the cylinders. The rest looks good.

Did you leak the motors down before you tore them apart? I'd be curious to see what the results were if you did. If the finish came off btw the cylinders, some of the coating either stuck to the block/head or came off with compression passing btw the cylinders.

i put 100 hrs on my set and then reused them and now have over 100 hrs on them again but today i would not, i would buy new. Felpro is also doing a nice MLS gasket that i have used and it works as good as the Cometic. Orings are old school and i will not do it again. For what it is worth a well know engine shop near me that does many promod motors uses them on there big power motors.

The only time I ever re-used a head gasket is if I just put it on, and haven't torqued the head yet... I guess that's not re-using a head gasket, but that's the closest I would ever consider. Cometic isn't all that anyway.

I always use new gaskets not worth the risks, the fel-pro mls are real nice and have nice sticky surface that seal up the water ports real nice in a marine engine,We use to use the felpro loc-wire in blower application but we feel that the mls style gaskets work better ,head and deck should be machined to proper specs for mls gaskets
