I was reading about that a year or so ago after the mess in the gulf. We stop explaoratory drilling, the Chinese come in and drill in the international waters of other Gulf countries. But, the biggee, the rig is capable of drilling laterally under US territory if they wanted to. I believe the longest lateral drilled well currently is around 8 miles or so. But, because Castro is still alive, we can't do any joint ventures with the Cubans so the Chinese will.
