Questions about Hydrostatic life vests

Looking to buy hydrostatic life vests.
Have an opportunity to buy multiple vests as in the first pic, but not as many as I want. Looks like the design has changed and want to make sure I can find others for a matched set, otherwise I'll buy new.
They have a flap around the neck instead of a collar like pic 2. Wondering if the flap would blow around in the wind too much.
Would the dark colored collar on the newer version get hot on the neck in the sun?
What is the difference between non harness (pic 2) and harness (pic 3) versions other then the rings?

Any input is appreciated.

Well, how come you can't ask easier questions?

The far left has the inflatable collar for holding your head out of the water in case you're knocked silly. They do chaff your neck. I don't know the support for that type of problem on the other two. I think Stearns used to make West's inflatables and now they are made by Mustang.

The ones with the rings are mostly for sailboats. You clip your safety lanyard to the ring in case you fall over in a storm.

I guess it depends on what level of safety you want.

You do not want a flag flopping around your neck at speed in the wind. If your in a cat behind a big windshield, thats one thing but sticking up in the wind is another.

Like rat said, the rings are for blowboaters to clip in

THe auto ones can go off from humidity/moisture. the "hammer" is held back by a rapidly disolving ring. enough humidity over time can set them off.

Don't the Mustang's now have a pressure valve on them so you can get them wet all you want and they will only inflate if they are a minimum of 6" underwater?
