This boat capsized and sunk near Kelleys Island in Lake Erie this afternoon. Crews from Rescue Marine, Lake Erie Towing, New Wave SCUBA, and Shrock's Marina worked together through the evening to right, refloat, and safely hoist the vessel from the water.
Once all of the passengers were safe and accounted for the salvage plan was outlined. There was no pollution so the SCUBA diver strategically attached an air lift bag to roll and refloat the vessel. While in-tow the other vessels on-scene monitored the vessel's stability. Once the situation was safe, personnel and salvage dewatering pumps were transferred to the vessel.

At :55 in the video the drives look odd to me. First, they are close together. Like a staggered. Second, one looks screwed up.

Was that Dr. Pain jumping on the boat there at the end.....trying to see what it is like getting on plane:huh:

Previous owner is a customer of a friend. It has twin 700's with Bravo's on ITS system.

Looks to me one is simply trimmed all the way up. It may not have anything to do with the mishap. Maybe the salvage guy trimmed them and only one moved. Or at trim switch ran while it sunk. Or maybe on stuck going up while under way and caused the mishap. Or maybe nobody will ever know. One thing for sure it can't be the operators fault. No way.

or maybe he was using 30 weight oil in his pumps...............

Well, the latest update is the driver is not positive of what happened. He's an experienced boater and felt he was not going faster than conditions would allow. I guess more will come to light later on. Of course he had to do the sobriety tests and all that good stuff...

Rumor on decent intelligence says the tow company is reporting it's a salvage and they want 1/3 of the total book value of the boat. Or about $80,0000 for their time and trouble. Certainly not the first time we've heard of this type of ruse.
