Has anyone had experience with these Garelick adjustable bases? They're low-profile, so they could fit under a floor-mounted seat without raising you up too much. The firmness is adusted by moving the rubber bumpers forward and aft, or by adding additional bumpers. Roughly $125/pair, plus your seat.

Sitdown, I would make new Fibergalss boxes to mount them to.
