Hey Brownie, I can get ya a pass if ya want. :bump:

Have you ever actually been to the show without working?? :) :) :seeya:

Bulletin.......Bulletin...... I am working the show, covering it for Brit mag World of Powerboating. My 53rd consecutive Miami show.

That Bravo-Arneson piece looks awesome - Couple questions:

Does it continue to use the same shifter arangement/cable?
Can you use the existing trim/tilt hydraulics?
It appears it uses a different inner transom plate?
Why the need for a new bellhousing/coupler?
How does the water pickup work?
I assume it doesn't have any kind of arrangement for exhaust?
Price?? (you can PM that if you don't want to post it)

Thanks!!!

Yes, the shifters do not change as the transmission shifts via a morse cable such as a 33C. Depending upon where the shifter box is, the same cable might be usable.

Can you use the existing trim/tilt hydraulics?

While all trim pumps are (basically) the same as Oildyne makes them, we include a pump in the Kit, but one could use their existing “Bravo” pump if desired.

It appears it uses a different inner transom plate?

Yes, one does not “need” a “Bravo” in order to install the “Arneson Bravo Conversion” as you would remove all the “Bravo” or for that matter, “TRS”, “Alpha” “Bravo” or basically any I/O or even new construction as the kit includes all the components needed to install the Arneson Kit onto the boat.

So one, provided they currently have it, removes their I/O and all its components and installs the Arneson Kit’s components onto the boat. Our standoff box is designed to cover the I/O cutout removing the need to glass the transom for the install.

Why the need for a new bellhousing/coupler?

With an I/O or new construction (the same kit is used for both conversions or new construction) one needs a bell housing and drive plate to mount the transmission to and we provide these necessary components in the kit as well as all the other necessary components needed to install the drive kit.

How does the water pickup work?

There is not a water pickup in the Arneson, no Arnesons have water pickup’s in them so an external water pickup is needed for the engines water supply needs.

I assume it doesn't have any kind of arrangement for exhaust?

No, the Arneson Kit requires the use of thru transom exhaust. Fortunately, most of these boats that want extra performance currently have or need thru transom exhaust and most have a blower motor (some do not) and they need a water pickup for their inter cooler needs so having thru transom exhaust and an external water pickup are fairly common.

Price?? (you can PM that if you don't want to post it)

List price for the kits is $23,125.00 each, with the items listed on the flyer:

  • Helm Unit
  • HD Bell Housing
  • HD Drive Plate
  • Transmission with oil cooler and fittings
  • Shift Bracket for the shifter cable
  • Rear Engine Mount (for close coupled applications)
  • Short Coupled Drive Line (for close coupled applications) or a drive line companion flange (for drive line applications or stagger applications)
  • Arneson Standoff Box, with hydraulic thru hull fittings, steering brackets and mounting hardware
  • #7M Drive Assembly (RH or LH Rotation in 1:1, 1.32:1 or 1.56:1 reduction/overdrive ratios) with External Steering Cylinder, Trim Cylinder, External Fittings & Hoses, mounting bolts and trim indicator bracket.
  • Zinc anodes
  • Propeller Guard
  • Option of Speedmaster style housing or “Bravo” style housings
  • Mechanical Tie Bar Pedestal for twin engine catamaran applications.
  • All the necessary mounting hardware, bolts, nuts and washers needed for the install with mounting template and instructions.
The only accessory is the mechanical tie bar assembly.

THANKS!!! That is really sharp.

I guess I misunderstood - I thought the tranny was mounted IN the ext box.

I remember the first time I saw that picture of that TG, it looked briefly like the boat was sitting on the concrete!!

The transmission does sit in the standoff box on the close coupled setups.

Those Russians have a different idea of what a "sunny day" is.
