One of the demonstrations at the Detroit Gold Cup was the FA-18 fighter group from the US Navy. They put on a great show, and I ran around to try to get pics with an interesting foreground.

    It wasn't easy........

I had the chance to speak with four of the group, one of the pilots, at the hotel we were at and they were also staying. I gave them my card from here, maybe they'll check in a give us a couple stories about their experiences.....Jeff definitely has some better shots than I do, but, at least I tried.....

Remeber what is represented in these pics, and the guys and girls who stand behind our flag with their lives on the line......

in the second pic ,,with the white halo around the jets body , i,v always wondered what that was.?

sometimes when i run IMCO wide open I see it ,,and it always scared me,,I thought maybe it was steam,,or something,, so when i saw it on the jets,,I was sure glad to see they have to deal with it too.

so far i,v only seen it twice this year,

see ya all in ST CLAIR

It's called a vapor cone. SOmething to do with the way water vapor forms around the pressure wave of the jet.

If you want to read about it.......
