What an AWESOME event! We decided kind of at the last minute to take a little road trip south and hit up Cumberland...myself, Obnoxus, and BZ and his 42 Fountain. Here's some pics of the fun:

09-13-2009 07:58 PMIt's a LOOOONG ride down there from Chi-town, and we made it ALMOST all the way without incident. About 7 miles from the state park entrance, we were cruising along at the speed limit, climbing a small hill, when we heard what sounded like a freight train horn to our left. Some completely whacked-out-of-his-gourd local boy was PASSING us in a no-passing zone with a stake-bed diesel dually towing a flatbed trailer with a farm tractor on it. He DID NOT do it with any skill or finesse, however, end dragged his old metal trailer down the side of the boat. The fender was folded in, the gelcoat scratched up...and the dude DID NOT STOP. In fact, if Dennis had not hit the brakes, the stupid hillrod would've taken out the front of our truck. What resulted was a Dukes-of-Hazard style chase thru the hills of the Cumberland area...with duallys and large trailers! He tried like hell to get away from us, but D kept us in it...even PASSING a guy on the dam to stay with him. We got close enough to get his plate, then pulled over and called the cops. Here's the damage:

09-13-2009 08:02 PMWe launched at night, after a bit of gelcoat repair...THANKS STATE DOCK...you guys rule! We could NOT find the launch ramp in the dark, ended up driving 1/4 mile down a dead end and having to back the whole rig up! Finally launched and Boatfreak guided us home to the nice little spot he had reserved for us...thanks a ton Mike!
We had a small amount of well-earned liquid libation and retired early to get ready for the run!

09-13-2009 08:10 PMRolled into State Dock early in the am...on the way to our boat, we noticed this 25 Sunny riding pretty high in the bow and that the swim platform us UNDER water. Pulled the guys cover back and popped his engine hatch and HOLY #$%! Notice the level of water in the bilge...there was 6 inches of water in the cabin already...Dennis jumped in and tried to get the bilge pump going without success. He bailed with a bucket while a couple dudes ran over to borrow a big pump from the State Dock guys. Pumped it dry before the owner got down there...close one for sure!
Checked out some of the hardware on the docks...
