I know it may not be this year or even considered, but I sure hope Powerboat P1 decides in 2011 to run the Super Stock Series Championships here in the United States.

Now with the implementation of the Mercury 300, perhaps that may even make it more of a possiblilty.

Even Asif calls the series," the world’s fastest growing offshore powerboat racing series."

"Powerboat P1 Chairman and CEO, Asif Rangoonwala, recognises the partnership as an extremely exciting breakthrough for the world’s fastest growing offshore powerboat racing series."

For those that never saw the action of this class, you have just got to see this 2 minute video clip:

It doesn't get any closer than the image below.

A few years ago this class was REAL BIG across the pond. But with Honda pulling out (I think it was Honda) it started dropping off.

At any given race site you could have 20 or more boats racing. I think they had 2 engine sizes.

It's the perfect entry level class.

- The boat / motor / Trailer race ready package was cheaper than a SUV

- Lightweight and easy to tow with a car (no extra vehicle needed)

- Small package will fit in your garage or driveway, no need to rent a shop or storage

- Race hatch comes off some people can pleasure boat them with the kids

- Dam near indestructible!

The SuperStock I think would be a more Affordable /Entry Level Class to get into Offshore Racing...

It certainly will teach a person the skills to drive a boat.

I know my Bullet 130 taught me well. Smaller the boat the faster your reaction time needs to be..... :cheers2:

Hopefully Powerboat P1 USA considers the Outboard Class for their line up.

.

A race ready 225hp Cougar are selling for 28,164.63 USD (used) with trailer.

Not a bad deal IMHO

In case you have not noticed I'm a big supporter of this class :driving:

Where can I find them Rick. I got some guys drooling on another board over this class....

Perhaps if P1 doesn't offer it, we can generate guys to bring some to Class 6.

Cougar 27' twin stepped deep V, the hull has been designed with racing in mind, it features Kevlar construction and in built water ballast tank, but still has the rear bench seat to allow the boat to be used for pleasure boating between races. A fairing covers this seating area when the boat is being raced. The top speed of this boat is 67 to 70mph.

Tim I agree they are awsome race boats, and would make a great class. I don,t think P-1 is looking to be another ORG with a lot of classes. Their are 30 or 40 stock car classes in our country,, NASCAR travels with 3 classes..I know everyone has their own opinion,we also have our own businesses,,if we did everything everyone suggested to run our business we would all have a million opinions and a bankrupt business!! Thats why susscesfull businesses have a business plan and stick to them.

If you take into consideration they have 3 Vee classes now in Powerboat P1.
Evolution, Supersport and Superstock
Adding SVL would now be a 4th Class.
In today's racing, I don't consider 4 to be alot.
Now if P1 has opted for the Superstock to be replaced with SVL in the States, then that must be their business model for this territory.
