Never overlook the obvious or, son of a biotch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last Sunday my boat developed a nasty miss fire when the throttle was advanced at any time. I mean a serious miss and often a cough fart stall.

well, I spent about 10 hrs testing and pullin stuff apart to check and on and on and on this week.

Oddly enough, I figured I better test the injectors for even fuel delivery so, I removed the flame arrester, shoved the throttle handle to the firewall and looked down the throttle bodies ( of which there are two 100cfm 4 barrel units on top of the blower with injector plates between) Son of a Biotch. The primary throttle plates on the front TB were not open but the other 3 sets were.

One tiny little screw that clamps the throttle bell crank to the primary shaft had backed out about a turn. This allowed everything BUT the primary throttle shaft to move. The throttle position sensor is mounted on THAT shaft.
10 hrs testing to find the actual problem buy pure fluke. Closed the throttles, tightened the screw and presto, she runs mint again.

Never over look the obvious, even when its not so obvious!

Time to go poker running for the last time this season. :)

whew, i thought this was going to be a rant about a one drunken nite in the woods in canada involving maple syrup and a duck....

Not a Bad choice considering in Canada you can while you´re drunk get taken advantage of a lovesick moosebull or a bear...:ack2::reddevil::biggrinjester::26:

We had a similiar problem on a dyno one time with a pair of dom's - made a couple of pulls and hit 830hp ... pulled the plugs to check the burn - put 'em back in and the hp dropped to 650 - WTF??? checked this - checked that - started looking down the throat of the carbs to see if something happened to the blower - told the guy to open the throttle again -said it was. frikkin ball crank fell off the back carb. Not bad though - made 650 on 1 carb!
