Some old photos I took of a gorgeous Fino owned by Scott Lorenger in the Detroit area. Scott always had the boat out on the Gold Cup race course in Detroit for years. Pair of 427 Chevys on V-drives. One of the sweetest offshore boats I have ever seen. Heard recently that he still has it.

does he know the history on it? I wonder if he picked it up from Jersey? There's not many around so who knows, it could even be my fathers old boat. Original name on the transom was "Doreen"

Scott has had this boat since sometime before I met him in 1992. If it is possible it was your father's boat, I can contact him for additional information about it.

That's nice - but I like this Alpha Z from Van Dam in Boyne City MI even better. I always wanted to see more of an offshore-style boat done using traditional wood construction. This is a beauty. Have any of you guys up there [Wrinkleface?] ever seen some of this company's work?

From what I was told growing up, the Aqua Riva (wood back then) is the sistership to the Fino. My father owned a Fino from about 73' to the early/mid 80's. It was built at Magnum in Florida and had a two piece mold.

It got looks everywhere we went! Had some 600 hp Flagship Marine Turbo motors in it and ran somewhere in the 60's which was pretty decent back then... When he first got the boat it had small blocks with push-button electronic transmissions... They didn't last long, nor did the small blocks!!!

Rumor has it, the person who owned the boat after us hit a jetty and it sunk somewhere off the Jersey coast.... Dee (lucididee) also survived a capsizing incident in that boat! :leaving: Strong boat, like bull! :rofl:

Met with Steve Vandam a few years ago about doing a body for a 48 Buick Roadmaster wagon i was restoring. Nice guy and an incredible craftsman. Not sure if you have ever seen the AlphaZ in person but it is truly perfect and flawless in every way. He brought it and several of his other works to a concours meet we do at Bay Harbor up in Charlavoix MI.

I have never seen it in person -- I had to really look close at the photos, some of them, at first, looked too perfect... I thought it was computer-generated art. But it's not. Just incredible craftsmanship--and a great design sense, too,

Have a relative in Bay Harbor, and got up to Charlevoix last year - but didn't have a chance to see what they were currently working on...
