Lake Erie Folk, I need a favor...

I agree with you on that. It seems like walleye is always a little more 'bony' than perch, to me anyhoo. We seem to have a perch fry about once a month or so, and its usually what I get no matter where I go on the lake if its on the menu. Good stuff.

We use to walleye fish all the time, and then fillet them at the dock and fry them up with potatoes at home. Best fish fry ever! This year the walleye never showed up unfortunately.

Yeah, but did you get the keychains? Ah ha.

The perch sammie was ok. I sat and ate with Chris and he drew pictures of Cig 28 hooks and Apache 28 rockers and a really great/terrible idea was born. :D Yes, my entire project started on a bar napkin. :D

Nope and if PK-whats his name doesn't have them this year...he is getting stuffed in a cleveland dumpster... :sifone:

I would be interested to try farm raised. Living on the edge of Lake Erie, I have only had wild caught. I know that I like wild caught salmon better than farm raised.

If your going to pay to have fish shipped from across the country dont **** around with lake erie perch. Call theese guys: http://store.keysfisheries.com/localfish.aspx Go ahead and get one of their key lime pies while your at it. Theirs is much better than some of the "top award winning" pie makers in the islands.

Back in grammar school in the 60's we were told Lake ERIE was very polluted now you can eat fish from there?, is this true

It used to be but the lakes been clean(er) for years. People have been eating fish from the lake as long as I can remember (been boating there 15 years or so)

Yes. After the Cuyahoga river fire, the gov was so embarrassed that they launched a massive clean up effort. This reduced the phosphorus content, which helped a lot. Then Zebra mussles were introduced, which each clean a pint of water a day. The Maumee Bay contains a massive sediment load, which makes it seem more polluted than it is. And you still don't want to fall in the Cuyahoga. But from the Detroit river down to the Erie Islands and across to Buffalo it's in pretty good shape. There is a seasonal "dead zone" and some algae blooms that are probably caused by open dredging dumping. But it's a healthier lake than it was, and yes... we eat the fish. The mercury thing is a concern... but with limited doses and young fish like 2 season perch... not a danger.

the algae bloom and the increase in sea grass and lotus are a direct result of the water being cleaner

Mod's, I wasn't sure where to put this and feel free to move it if it is more appropriate elsewhere.

I need some FROZEN LAKE ERIE WHITE PERCH shipped to me.
I can't get that sort of thing out here in AZ.
If someone can pick up about 5-7 pound, and cold pack and overnight ship, I would be greatly appreciative.
Let me know the cost for fish and shipping.

Somebody has to come through for me.
Help??
PM me, Please!!

We fed fresh perch from Lake Erie to Davidmnc if that says anything...

And I'm still doing okay. There was an issue with the air port metel detector though. And there is that rash that wont go way. And these damn nose bleeds are kind of bothersome, and viagara really helps, but other than those small things..............no problems!! :26:

Pretty impressive for about 40 years, now we need to work on the Hudson River.
I made it sound like the Zebra mussles were on purpose. They were an accidental invader from ballast water coming in on international vessels, mostly mediterranian, I think.

No question. But I believe that open water dredging dumping stirs thing up and places more micro-organizisms and life in the water column. I am a fan of dredging, but they need to dump closer to Cleveland. :)
