John Amato - RIP

Hey Steve: Been a long time. Lot of water under the bridge, since you got that truck. Do you still have it? Just picked up a Maltese Magnum in Algonac, Mi that my girlfriend got me, for my 65th birthday. If anybody had told me I would outlive Gilly and Keith Hazel, I would have taken that bet, and given odds. Speaking of trucks, go to my web site: wwwsheerperformancemarine.com and look at that truck! Phil; do you still have the compass shot? Bobby

Anyone who has any stories, colorful or otherwise, about John's racing and surrounding events, please add them to this thread and we will make sure Charlie gets them to add to the HORBA files if he doesn't already have them.

If it is something you think John would not have wanted to chat about, then please pretend he was standing there next to you as you were telling the story.

Any pictures like those which have been added are great......

Thanks

Hey Bobby -

I will check with Peter - he has the complete NNRT Still Library - I gave it to him years ago, as he shot most of them. If its still available I will get you it.

65th - ha - Just a baby ! Beat ya !

Childhood idol??!!! The girls thought you were my father. But thats because they saw me come to you for advise. And look where that got me.

Bobby

I think this is the photo you are looking for - Notice the compass is OUT - and turned - heading for either you or your driver ! - Just dumb luck getting it -

I will get a photo or two printed of this and a few others - and send them to you - Hope all is well - Phil

All Bobby had to do was follow Davey...:p

Ok, lets set the record straight: 1. I always followed Davey, because he asked me too. Said he wouldn"t get his contingency and drinking money from the guy that designed and built "LOVE IT', unless he was in the lead. What was that guys name???? 2. I had to follow Davey, until the finish, because I had never run those waters, in the daylight. Oh, wait, thats another thread.

Oh boy here we go theold timers or OFF crew are out of the closet and the fecal matter is about to hit the rotary blades!!!

Maybe you can explain the story of impersonating an IRS agent here just lately Bobby!!!!

Sean; I'm sorry, I can't comment on that without my attorney. But, you have to admit, it was pretty funny. Hows your head, today?
