Suddenly this entered my mind and I didn't have a clue.
In a two man race boat who operates the trim tabs and drives positions, throttleman or driver ? Or does it vary from boat to boat or crew to crew ?
ed
On my F1 during normal racing conditions the t-man controls trim and tab, but however there are an additional set of switchs on the drivers side, I thought it was because it just made the dash look cool :sifone:

lol same here. In the cat i control everything and keep an eye on ALL gauges but there are trim controls over there. Ed has his hands full of wheel most of the time. Seems to be that way with most but i have heard a few variations. Its really pretty cool when you run with someone you are in tune with but in all honesty it doesnt happen every single time. I've had off days where it just wouldnt come together.

Is that the ones I had to fix in the Washington , NC HEAT !!!! Hey , come to think of it......you owe me beers !!! Let me think.....Radios, drives, fiberglass, my aquaintance's. LOL Dave:driving:
Actually he did that in the 60's........ with the 28 foot Thunderbird that had 2 engines driving one shaft and prop....see below. He continued throttling himself right to the end with his foot throttles.
Nordskog was an iron man.....he won the Orange Bowl 9 hour endurance race driving alone for 9 hours, while every other team had 2 drivers that switched out at the gas stops.
Most of the Production class guys in the 70's both drove and throttled and trimmed......but as the speeds grew and the boats got longer....it became necessary to turn over the throttles to someone else.
The original 3 man crew was...Driver and Navigator and Riding Mechanic. Breakdowns were very common and both the mechanic and the navigator, on open ocean courses were very valuable people to have on board.

Seem to recall a story about a couple of guys in a race with the steering stuck and the gasline leaking beating on the steering with a sledge while racing......:sifone:
