Bolt-on replacements for 280 K-planes?

I'm taking my 280 K-planes off to refurbish them this winter and was considering replacing them with billet tabs for more transom bling. Who makes good ones?

  1. Eddie Marine
  2. Latham
  3. Others?

I probably will go the powder-coat route, but I have some corrosion repair to do around the indicator cable fittings (see below). Just thought that I'd see what else is out there. Can't help but wonder if the boat wouldn't like a longer set of tabs; it's a touch tail-heavy.

Dana and Eddie marine make the longer tabs. They are nearly identical, but the eddie marine tabs are a little cheaper I think. Matt, just come down on down, I'll let you try my 380 plates to see if it is worth the money to go to longer tabs. :D

If there's enough demand, I'm sure one of the companies would make a replacement, longer. tab to fit in place of the 280 tab if it's hard to find the 380 tab to replace with.

You know you can just replace the tab itself with a 380 tab if you would like....

If I remember right the 380 plates are around $500 a piece new and usually pretty hard to find used. Not exactly a deal considering the eddie marine tabs are $1600 complete with new pumps, hoses, etc.

Sean - Thanks for the call. Do you think that I could borrow your 380 plates to see how they work? If they do what I'm looking for, we'll make a deal on exchanging them for my 280 plates.

Has anyone else done this swap on a 382, or other tail-heavy boat?

Those are bolt ons.....
