A Day of Fun & Excitement For Special Athletes From The Special Olympics!

Date: Saturday July 18, 2009

Shore Dreams for Kids is a non-profit organization who throughout the year set out to raise money to hold an annual event for approximately 700 children and their families. This includes families from the Special Olympics, Make a Wish Foundation, Oceans of Love Support Group for Children with Cancer, Children with Autustim, Mentally and physically challenged children as well as special needs children throughout the area to a day at the Jersey shore.

Our annual event offers these children and their families a day of entertainment which includes a "carnival atmosphere" complete with games and small rides, an antique car display, food and drinks, live entertainment and most importantly Performance Powerboat rides in the Barnegat Bay, NJ.

Our event would cease to exist without the help of a wide variety of companies and individuals who donate their time, services and hearts to this one day event. The reward of seeing the smiles and children's eyes light up from all that is shared with them is truly immeasurable. So please help us keep the smiles growing by showing us your support.

I will be there as always. This is by far my favorite event of the year! Nothing beats the smiles from these kids enjoying the day at the shore and going for boat rides.

that aint no lie.... i used to put the kids at the wheel and take a bunch of shots, then send it to them.... i know when i was akid just being in a boat made me nuts, imagine how these kids feel standing there at the wheel with the engines going behind them... awsome event....

Good luck on this Dave - I'd like to come out sometime and see how you organize such a great event. I posted about SDFK on the website last month [here] - I'll post some additional call-outs on Twitter about this too - there`are a lot of NJ people on that site who might be interested in helping out.

As for help:

Money donations are a big help as it costs tens of thousands of dollars to make this even heppen every year.

Volunteers - the day of the event we need ALOT of boats. Even if you can only come for an hour or two that is ok!

Dave, I will do my best to make it with boat. Where, and what hours of the day? The wife is a real weekend planner.

Dave Adam is leaving for Costa Rica that day so he won't be there.I might be able to it depends on what time I get back from the airport. What time do the rides end if I remember correctly it was like 2:00 PM last year

Hours for rides are 10am - 3pm. It all takes place at the Seaside Heights Municipal Dock.

If you are heading north, go under the Mathis Bridge and once you clear the bridge turn right and take the channel (maked by day markers) east and follow it into the cove. The pier is right there.

Dave count me in for dock help or whatever...i forwarded the email about donations to corporate. also leem know if you need a couple dumsters...may be able to get a couple donated for the day
