LATHAM MARINE EARNS U.S. ARMY FREEDOM TEAM SALUTE
The 4th of July Independence Day reminds us of the importance of the rights and freedom for which our forefathers and soldiers fought over 230 years ago. The USA still stands for those rights and freedoms and recognizes patriots who support our country and its heroes.
Latham Marine recently earned the recognition and appreciation of the U.S. Army for the support one of its soldiers, Frank Sacchetti. Sacchetti was a down-on-his-luck young man who arrived in South Florida to get his life on track and get a job—which he found at Latham Marine. Kathy Latham is no push-over for a sob story, but is a strong advocate of those with a good work ethic, a strong handshake and an honest approach. She saw Sacchetti as a diamond in the rough and gave him a job.
He worked in the factory for a number of months, fighting his own demons, earning money and a reputation as a hard-working man. When Sacchetti decided to move on to continue his growth by joining the Army, he never forgot the break that he received from Latham Marine.
Months later Kathy Latham received a certificate of commendation and letter from General George W. Casey, Jr., Army Chief of Staff and Pete Geren, Secretary of the Army. The letter relayed appreciation to an “Army Employer” as a “vital valued member of the Army team” noting that these employers “help us maintain our commitments to the Nation and our way of life.” The certificate noted that “The Army greatly appreciates your support of Soldiers fighting the Global War on Terrorism and is proud to recognize your contributions and personal sacrifices in preserving the freedom and security of our Nation.”
The Lathams have personally and professionally supported many patriotic causes and are proud be considered part of the Army “team.” “We are the luckiest people on this earth because of the protection we receive from our military and the freedoms they have fought for!” says Kathy Latham who says she would hire Sacchetti back “in a heartbeat.”
Latham Marine and Latham Performance Products have successfully operated their family-run marine parts and manufacturing business in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for over 35 years and also have the US military as a client. “They need marine parts that cannot fail,” says Bob Latham, “And that is our specialty—strength, quality and integrity—like the US military.”
