The legendary 1985 Gentry Turbo Eagle Larry Smith Scarab — winner of the 1988 APBA SuperboatWorld Championship with Don Johnson at the helm — is headed to the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction.

Commissioned by offshore racing pioneer Tom Gentry and built on a Larry Smith–designed Scarabhull, this 46-foot championship deep-V monohull represents one of the most historically significantoffshore race boats of the 1980s.
Power is delivered by three original Gentry turbocharged 533 cubic-inch V-8 engines producingapproximately 1,000 horsepower each on 92-octane pump gas, and up to 1,200 horsepower each onrace fuel, restored to exact 1988 World Championship specifications.
Meticulously restored in a multi-year project reportedly exceeding $1.3 million, the Turbo Eagle hasbeen returned to its authentic No. 99 GENTRY racing livery and championship configuration.
Collectors, enthusiasts, and investors will have the rare opportunity to bid on a documented worldchampion — where Hollywood history, engineering innovation, and offshore dominance converge.
