    Just looked back and saw a pick. I see you have the mechanical pump on the sea pump. That looks like about a '97 engine. That pump set up works well. Better then the new with an electric pump IMO. It will be helpful to fill the spin on filter with fuel. The loop Paul mentioned returns to the spin on filter.

    it has a mechanical pump off the seapump. I believe its the low pressure pump, somewhere I believe there is a high pressure pump after the low pressure pump too. Not knowing the condition of the tank I had the end of the fuel line stuck into a gas can. Jim I will go out and get the serial number, post it up in 5 minutes

    In the electric box hanging on port riser you will find fuses and relays. Crank the engine with a filled fuel filter and check it again to see if it stayed full. Check fuses and replace relays for grins.. One is for ignition and one is for injection. They are 20 dollars or less. Should be able to cross them at a auto parst store if nec. The mech pump is the low pressure or supply pump. The high pressure pump is in the vapor canister near the distributor. If all the relays and fuses are good and fuel filter is full of fuel give the vapor cannister some love taps. There is a float and needle valve in there that may need a little persusation from sitting. Open the canister as last resort. Expect to need a new o ring to seal it up again. Once opened the o ring will swell and you will not be able to use it again. If you take the top of the plenum off [ The top of the intake off with minimal effort with the appropriate torks socket ] you will find a sherader valve to check for pressure. and presence of fuel in the high pressure loop.

    Also the sea pump has gear lube in it lubricating the fuel pump drive. Some can be drained in place while others need to remove the sea pump to dump and refill. You should change the gear lube every time you change the impeller. It will have gas diluting the lube. That is normal. Hopefully the fluid resembles oil more then straight fuel.

    Over all that is a dependable fuel system. I find the filter in the high pressure loop only needs to be changed or even inspected at about a 400 hour interval. The filter has a silly price on it. It can be cleaned in most cases. Again open that only after checking everything else and only after you have a new o ring seal thingy in your hand.

    The rise gasket weep Fund pointed out is typical on that stainless riser . The gasket does a lot of work and should be changed on a regular interval of every other season or so. The stainless and cast iron expand and contract at different rates. IMO a cast riser is much better. Stainless risers are easily identified by the short mounting bolts. The cast ones bolts are longer and extend to the top surface. Make sure in either case you use the proper gasket.

    I would get it running before you bother to mess with that though.

    Here is what inside the vapor cannister looks like. The filter is also available from yamaha for about 125. If you find you need one I will help you cross it over to the yamadog part number.

    I would bet you won't need to look in there.

    I think the problem is solved. Took it up to Brian41's today. Injectors checked out, turns out its a bad high pressure fuel pump. I saw the retail price for the replacement pump and almost soiled my depends!!! Brian worked some magic and I walked out a grand even. almost forgot to mention that included the diagnostic, new pump, installation and a used dual axle Myco to go under the boat and replace my rusted out bent up single axle eagle trailer.
