They currently print all the money they feel they need to keep the numbers looking good. Now, if you feel they've given up and it's time to let the Republicans take over and then blame the fallout on their control, you may be right. I feel they want another cycle first before letting that happen. If they feel they are going to lose the house again, and this time the senate along with it no matter what they try, then you may see what you are talking about happen. However, the fixes required to turn it around are not all that complicated. All that's needed is the politicians in power to put the state of the United States ahead of their own political desires and ahead of their own party politics.

I think the $50 billion is also a farce put out there by those who want the Olympics to be seen as a giant failure by the Russians. Heck, the new stadium for the Minnesota Vikings is less than $1 billion. You could build 25 of those with 100% fraudulent bribes added to each one and be les than what they are saying the Russians spent. It makes zero sense in the common sense part of my brain.

I think that the fact that the sun came up this morning is part of an elaborate conspiracy to make the Russians look bad.

Its the Russians claiming they spent $50billion. Sochi didn't have any infrastructure, no hotels, barely a ski hill, etc. They even built a new airport. Vancouver had hotels and infrastructure, built a small arena for speed skating, redid the highway between Vancouver and Whistler and built a subway line between Vancouver and Richmond, location of the airport. They also redid the international arrivals terminal. But that's it for major spending. Cost us $6billion.

Pumping money into the system can also work in reverse. The elastic band is broken. The more they pump the more the dollar gets destroyed. They'll have to raise interest rates to keep that money in the USA. Raise in rates will be a disaster. It will all fall apart this year.

Older brother is a computer programmer. He did an custom app for a guy a few years ago. The guy just sold the app to a company. The guy is being gentlemanly in giving my brother $35K. The company that bought the app, wants my brother to change a few things and make some additions. They want him to move to Toronto. The app is some tracking software for a trucking company.

Some of the finest people that he will ever meet run trucking companies in the Toronto area.

    He should go for it.

A little over a foot of snow here, no need to shove or blow it though. Having coffee in front of the fire with my darling doing our morning readings. Did I mention that life is good?

Some did. Some didn't. I suppose that when you strike out to do something nice for anybody you run across, you'll get all kinds.
I imagine that the ones who are really grateful make it worthwhile.

The guys who did it (worked for a car dealership, which is how the extra pizzas got ordered) later put an effort together on social media in 6 hours to accumulate and assemble care packages and then went out again to pass them out last month. (Left the Fisker at home that time.)

    Ponch, chew on this...

My Dad is 69 yrs old. He retired at 65 after 30 years of 12-14 hr days driving/unloading a truck (semi). He gets a little Social Security and the rest of his retirement money comes from interest on his investments. It's not a lot of money. He lives in a modest home probably worth $120K (paid off yrs ago). My parents have 2 vehicles, a 10 yr old SUV, and a 12 yr old van.
His biggest concern in the world is to run out of money. He really watches his spending. Don't get me wrong, my folks aren't missing any meals, but if they're going to eat prime rib, it'll be at the casino buffet for the $8.99 Wednesday special. While at the casino, he can afford to play slots for a little bit, but we're talking $0.25 slots.
He keeps an eye on the market once a week, and starts getting real nervous if things drop by a large amount. It could have a profound effect on his life.

I agree that some did appear thankful, but it seemed like more than 50% just grabbed a pie and walked away.

It's cool what the dealership did.
