My Dad is a great man and a great father. His strength, wisdom, character, and sense of humor have been a greater gift than any other in my life. He volunteered for the draft in the Korean War and was decorated for the sacrifices he made there. Including leaving his blood on Korean soil. He went on to be a well ranked amatuer boxer in the 50s.
His license plate reads "Be Brave."

He will finally retire this year at 76.

I am lucky to still have him here. Even if he isn't mechanically inclined.
Although he did stop by a few weeks ago and give me a hand with a very heavy Apache hatch. He could kick all of our azzes.

    Happy Father's Day, Pop.
Ok... funny story. When I was in 4th or 5th grade I was on the baseball team but was not hitting well because I was afraid of getting hit by a pitch. He said "let's go in the back yard and I will pitch you some and let you practice. Then you won't be afraid to get hit by a pitch." I said ok.
We went outside and I stood there with the bat. He said "are you ready?" and I said yes.
He wound up for the pitch and nailed me with the ball. He then said. "Ok, now you have been hit by the ball. You don't need to worry about it happening any more." I never really did get that great at baseball... but when football came I didn't mention to him that I was afraid to get hit. Later I broke my collar bone in a tackle and he came and took me to the ER. I said "I am no longer afraid of breaking my collar bone."

Happy Father's Day to all those who are dads.

I will take some orphans out on the lake today. 22 year-old orphans.

    Pics to follow...
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
