    That's a 388.

Those, & the 368's, are more like sportscars than the 40's.

The 40ss will run faster in rougher conditions than the classic 40.

Do you have pics of the 40 SS and 40 Classic in cut down configuration? (Hopefully in profile to see any differences)

I don't have any pics on this computer, but it's kind of hard to see the difference without looking at them from straight ahead anyway.

PBams' boat "No Plans", is a cut down 40.

"Bad" and I believe the new "Predator" are both 40ss models.

teagues SS, you can see the tunnel size increase.

the orginal 40's also had a slight "v" in the tunnel that is gone now.

So is the 40 just like the 388 I had above with an additional 2 feet out front of the windshield?

Sean H, Is the Vee you mentioned like a tri-hull variation or is it more subtle?

yes, a very shallow v, probably 2 or 3 inches in the center of the tunnel.

the 388 and 40 ss are very different size wise; beam, tunnel, sponson, length etc...

That V in the tunnel was gone many years ago and the reason being is when we were wideing the tunnel 6 inches it was much easier to fair in a flat surface then give it a slight V .

Is there anything aside from fuel tanks to be wary of? Anything about this particular boat, does anyone know it?
I know the history... if hes serious about the boat, send me a PM and ill give you the phone #'s to call to get the details straight from the horses mouth, not the current owner.

Its a nice boat, needs the tanks done but not a big issue. Great deal for someone. Its got new interior too.

If you look at the Platinum club run for Make A Wish in Ft. Myers, there's pics in there of the big 40. And it's BIG. Just what you'd expect a shortened 46 to look like.

That was the guy Paul that we were talking to. He used to own the Flying Falcon Apache. He's a member here under the name of Phat Cat.

    That boat is awesome!

You forgot that the early 40's didn't have a notch on the back of the sponsons.

Just keeping it real for ya.

No, not yet. It is sitting inside a climate controlled warehouse, fully rigged minus engines and drives. It has the shallow V in the tunnel as Sean said.

We were only a couple mph off the Classic 40 top speed with the new Predator.......40ss, this spring we are breaking that fo sho!!!
