Anyone have a list or educated guesstimate of who's expecting to run POPRA this year (by class would be helpful).
Black Shadow Racing 28 Pantera is looking forward to running P5 this year and I'm just trying to get a lay of the land on what to expect prior to the season starting.

I remember when I raced POPRA we had 40 boat fields alot of the time
God forgives.....The 1% doesn't!!!!!!

Currently it looks like we have six P1, one P2, no P3, three P4, and two P5 boats. With another 3-5 boats that only run their local race sites.

You need to get Collegewood to come back to P-2 and maybe I can convince a couple others to dust off their stuff to run with him!!!

Bill you got to come out for the Rum Run race. Like I told you we are working on building back up the fun factor in the races out here. You should come out early to Havasu to run the Kilo and the race with Smitty.
It is a good bunch of racers now that are in place and everything is heading in the right direction.

02-09-2010 10:24 AMPat if I can make a trip out it would only be for one race. Havasu or the Rum Run, which would be the best.

Both races are fun, Havasu is a lake race with a closed course surrounded by thousands of spectators. The Rum Run is a classic offshore race 26 miles across the Pacific to Catalina and back.

Bill If you are tied up you can just send the boat we will take good care of it...... I know some friends that might come out of hiding to run it...
I like both venues but if you can only come to one do the Rum Run. You should see if any of the other SV's want to come out and take on the Pacific.

How are the championship points going to work for the season and the Orange Beach race? Thanks.

The first guy to pay his entry fee for the season in his class gets 10 points in my book.
OB is a title race so I believe Best in the West 1,2,3 will be determined by the races before OB. The OB race will be the Gieco World Champion because it is east vs west. Just some guesses.

02-11-2010 09:33 AMWith the POPRA and OPA working together, maybe you guys should consider calling your classes Class 1,Class 2,Class 3,Class 4 and Class 5; and drop the P designation. You might also consider adding Class 6 as it is growing in OPA and it provides a place for the small boats to race competitively.
It is great to see a renewed interest in offshore powerboat racing on the west coast.Orange Beach,Alabama will be an awesome event!
