Going to dunk the boat this week (Friday) or Saturday. Probably going to launch in New Buffalo or Michigan City. First time out in a year so wondered if anything was happening on the Illinois/Indiana side or Michigan side. Been out of touch with the boating things for a while....

Has it warmed up enough to go out? I thought there was still ice on the lake.

Its not too bad, definately colder than usual. Last Sunday the lake was calmer than I have seen in a long time, even calmer than last year after the flooding.
I will be out Satuday and Sunday near Portage, I might make a run to the Playpen Saturday. I dont think a 26' Sundancer will keep up with you guys though...

Sunday was like glass on the lake. Calmest I have seen it in years.
There should be a few of us heading out of Michigan City this weekend. Probably myself (Profile cat with twin outboards), 28 sunsation, 32 sunsation, and maybe more. I am guessing we will probably end up down by boaters beach where the water is a little warmer.

Majic,
I usually go to New Buffalo. The docks are short and I was thinking of giving Michigan City a try to see if the ramp docks are better. It's about the same distance for me to either one. Do they have good ramps and parking there? We should be out on the water Friday, spend the day and overnight at a transient somewhere. Maybe by one of the Casinos.

duke,
The ramps at city are pretty good but like you said the docks are short too. I can launch my 32' ft there easily with 2 people but the trailer sits very low, I think you would be fine too. The ramps are way better since the water has risen. The parking is adequate and better yet secure as they have 24hr security! I don't think the New Buffalo ramps are any better. You could get a transcient slip at MC and I am sure a shuttle could pick you up and take you to the casino. I am free tomorrow and I could help you launch and show you were to go as far as getting a slip, let me know,
Andy

That sounds great. If you could give me a pm with a numebr to call you in case I should need to call you that would be nice. Thanks for the offer. I'll be there with my wife. We've been able to get it done together at the New Buffalo ramp between the two of us. It's a pain loading on the trailer because they don't want any "Power ons" so I have to crank it quite a bit. Nice little workout to end the day!

Dukenrock,
We saw you yesterday on the way down New Buffalo, your boat looked great it the water. You ended up running to the warm water beach with Twin Whakas and SC288. My little guy was taking a nap so we were on slow cruise mode. Looks like you guys might have cruised to the city?
Hope you had a good weekend.

Thanks Majic. I was looking for your boat and if I passed you without noticing, Sorry!!
Everything ran great on the boat...first time out this year too! I ran with Twin W and SC288 for several miles. Good looking boats! I wanted to get on it with them but I promised the wife nothing fast today! We ran to Chicago and hit the beach just north of Navy Pier. Tons of boats anchored there. We stayed there for a few hours and headed back to New Buffalo, then ate at Brewsters. Had a great day with the wife! (My Daughter ended up not going because her boyfriend had to work...Lucky me ; )) Couldn't have asked for a better day.
We'll be going out again soon. I'll make sure to hook up with you guys if your out. Thanks again for offering to help out.

Saturday was a prefect day to run to the city. SC288's daughter was sleeping too so he was taking it slow as well. You did see me I think, you guys waved to me. I was in the boat in my avatar, I passed you guys going the opposite way just a few miles outside New Buffalo.

What a nice day on the lake Saturday. Absolutley perfect weather.
I had a couple of newbies with me so I couldn't really get on it too hard.
Dukenrock,
Is that a 35 or a 38? The boat looked great running.
We are almost always out on the weekends somewhere between New Buffalo and Boaters Beach. Feel free to stop by and hang out anytime you see us out.
