    50 Marauder/nxt drives - questions/ observation

Pic from Mr. Nauti on boatfreaks

    1. where is the water pickup on the lowers? Suppose to be on rear somewhere?

    2. What is blue oval plate to the right of starboard drive? For standard swim platform? seen them on other Cigs.

    3. Notice the extension on center drive to lower X dim. Is this a custom job with custom driveshaft or from Merc as a new kind of drive spacer? Makes adjusting X easy if you start high to begin with.

    Thanks, DK

The blue plate I think is the backing plate for the hinge assembly on the inside

I don't see the water pick-up on the lower until so it is most likely thru hull.

New water pick-up, mounted at the rear of the gearcase torpedo, is interchangeable with available accessory pick-ups for multiple hull-type configurations and speeds.

So, how does water go in the rear at speed? Looks like black plastic around the propshaft, must be magic reverse waterflow.

Any word on the performance of a triple 700 46/50 vs. say a twin 1075 boat? Roughly same HP and a little more drag with the 3rd drive but 3X the hours before rebuilds.

Cig doesn't always use the gearcase pickup, they have been using thru hull lately.

If it had the gearcase pickup you would see it extending down from the prop shaft seal toward the skeg. (see picture)
