Alligators, snakes, rodents rescued in Milwaukee

    May 14, 12:32 AM (ET)

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee police were called to investigate an alleged sexual assault and stepped into a crime scene crawling - in some cases literally - with hundreds of reptiles including alligators and snakes.
Police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz says the reptiles and rodents were found in a home and inside a building doubling as a storage facility and residence. The initial discovery was made Wednesday, and officers remained at the scene Thursday.
Lt. Paul Felician told WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee at least five anaconda snakes 20 to 30 feet long were found, along with spiders and a chicken.
Some animals were stored in containers; others roamed.
Officials from nearby zoos, an animal control unit and other agencies helped police. A 50-year-old woman was arrested and could be charged.

I'm thinking that was probably a meal for one of the gators.

Maybe it was the chicken who called police.

    People and pets.

Last year some kid caught an alligator in one of our local lakes. About 4' long.

My dad used to own a little fishing tackle and bait store. Every once in a while someone would bring in an Oscar about a foot long or so. Thought they'd caught the mising link. I don't think they could survive an Ohio winter, but they could probabaly gobble up quite a bit through a summer and fall.

In Maryland, an angler caught a snake head in a fresh water pond that was in close proximity to a tributary of the bay. The DNR were petrified that this think would walk (yes I said walk) to the tributary and start populating the bay. They ended up pumping the lake dry and putting poison in the remaining water to get rid of any chance.
