    The key with these boats is weight". If they weigh a ton, you are going to need a lot of horsepower to move them. The original layup was not used by Port Edgewood. They came up with their own version, was it good or bad?

    The first boats Port Edgewood made were bad and they delaminated badly. There was a lawsuit brought by a customer that boat a boat that delaminted and was useless. He won the suit and Port Edgewood agreed to build him a new boat...they did and that one delaminated too. Never heard anymore about this.

    So remember these boats are just fiberglass and wood, they can be fixed and they can be lightened, you just have to know what you are doing.

    Of all the 24 footers we have built, the best combination has been to expand the cockpit back and make the sunpad shorter and add a bracket on the back and power it with an outboard. You will have a very dependable boat with a lot of useful features. A nine foot cabin and a big cockpit with a lot of storage room under the sunpad, with a dependable outboard and a good fuel range. The new boats which are built lighter ran about 70 with light fuel load and powered by a 250 HP Evinrude HO.
    Light travels faster than sound....that is why some people appear bright until we hear them speak!!
