5 boaters rescued Saturday

The Coast Guard rescued five people Saturday from two separate, sinking boats, according to a press release from the agency.

Three reportedly were rescued about 8 p.m. 50 miles northwest of the island after their 73-foot commercial fishing boat sank. They were pulled from the water after their life raft capsized, the report says. One reportedly had minor injuries not specified in the press release.

Two were picked up -- one on an overturned hull, the other in a life raft -- about 6 p.m. after their 43-foot commercial fishing boat Deep flooded 34 miles of Key West, the release says.

MONROE COUNTY

From a buddy's FB page

A shrimp boat 21 miles west of the Marquesas keys. And a 43 ft torres just like my boat south of the marquesas about 5 miles, A sail boat around tail end . We were fishing in that area, We saw the sail boat and the fishing boat that day. The shrimp boat got his gear hung up in the bottom. And the coast guard ask him if their was a salvage company they wanted them to contact. No offense , but if my boat is sinking, Thats not one of my concerns!
