Site Facelift and Outage

Our apologies for the downtime today. We transferred over to all new software and that is definitely a challenge. We were offline longer than we expected.

All is up and running now. You'll probably see some bugs here and there. We already know there's a problem with the smilies and we're working on it. Anything else you see, please let us know.

The new software was a must. The vendor has discontinued support for the old version and we didn't want to wait any longer to change over. Any and all suggestions on what else you might like to see would be definitely welcomed.

We should start a thread for the little tricks we all learn as we use this new update. Like the double click deal.

Look on the toolbar at the top for Quick Links. Then "Today's Posts"

That's a very popular feature. I believe the header code will allow a separate button for that to be embedded. I'll look into that today.

Looks like you have to double click on reply to thread to get past the quixk reply as the option...

If you notice, the new software no longer takes you to another "reply" page. It opens a box right below. And if you do a quote, that box opens right below the post you're quoting and above the next one in line. So if there's another post on that page of the thread you might want to reference in your reply, you can scroll to it. Overall it seems to be a nice tradeoff.

Running this upgrade is a little tricky. It's an entirely new version of the software, not just an update. Not everything automatically transfers. The good news is that you don't know exactly what all does and doesn't transfer until you do it. So we get to have a really fun scavenger hunt through the backup of the old site, looking for misplaced items. We will be working on avatars today.

Just went to add attachments, I like how it shows pics immediately , but there is some stuff in there that I deleted years ago, or lost accidentally ?

That is one I don't understand at all. I believe it's on a list to review.

Nor sure what you mean. Can you explain in more detail?

Go make any post and hit manage attachments. I think you'll see what we're talking about.

When I did that I saw some files from my Windows temp directory. They're files that have never been uploaded on this site or anywhere else.

Yep. Some on mine are ones I've posted before, some come from I have no idea where. Almost looked like my photo folder....

You can reuse some of your old photos now... The feature can be turned on and off in your control panel...
