From new entries, new setups, new three-quarter-mile courses and a new quad-2,250-hp-engine power package for the American Ethanol Mystic, the hype for the top-speed shootout season is starting to build.

The new 3/4 mile courses will be interesting. Some of the smaller classes should stay at the same speeds, or maybe even faster.

The bigger boats should go slower, but I don't think all that much slower.

The main question in my mind, will they enforce the starting gate maximum speeds? A precedent has been set there that may cause multiple protests now.
