Brunswick three-year plan: mid-single digit growth annually
From the Boating Industry News. I'm a little surprised at expansion in the size of offerings from SeaRay. A SeaRay over 75', and a Boaton Whaler over 40'?
MIAMI – Brunswick executives said in an conference call held for investors that the company is driving for mid-single digit revenue growth and double-digit operating earnings growth annually through 2014.
Despite planning models that assume global economic and marine market outlooks will continue to be comparable to 2011, Brunswick said several key factors will support this growth, including market share gains, new products and services that will expand markets, specific regional opportunities throughout the global marketplace as well as price improvements.
In a document released alongside the conference call, Brunswick said that part of its core strategy for growth in the boat group involves extension of its brand offerings, pursuit of new product expansions, pursuit of growth in non-U.S. markets such as Brazil and China and executing plans to further improve operating efficiencies.
New product expansions include extending the Sea Ray brand up to 75 feet with express and fly bridge options in its yacht family; extending Boston Whaler beyond 40 feet and returning to the to the dual console market; Hatteras expanding with four new motor yachts from 70 feet to 110 feet; and Crestliner launching the Commander series for markets in the Pacific Northwest.
Brunswick also listed several new expansion opportunities for the company outside the U.S. market, including growth in the Brazillian market targeting the country’s growing middle class. The Sea Ray line would also be expanded into both European and Chinese markets, with Bayliner expanding in Europe and the Hatteras line joining Sea Ray in China.
Brunswick also said in the document that it plans for growth in the marine engine segment, with plans to develop new product offerings in order to boost global market share gains.
Developing a full product portfolio for Mercury Marine is part of Brunswick’s plan to grow in that segment. It plans to cater to markets it underserves — for example by pursuing saltwater markets with a 150 hp FourStroke and the development and launch of derivative products.
The company said growth in the sterndrive category will be achieved with new products as well as continued improvement of its Axius system and improvements in emissions, fuel economy and noise reduction.
