The 17th Annual Award-Winning XINSURANCE Great Lakes Grand Prix returns to Michigan City for a week of high-speed excitement July 27–August 2, 2026, at Washington Park. This premier offshore powerboat racing event showcases some of the world’s fastest and most powerful boats as they race along the southern shores of Lake Michigan, with incredible viewing from Washington Park Beach and the surrounding shoreline.

In addition to thrilling races, this free, week-long celebration features community events including a boat parade, block party, golf outing, live entertainment, brewfest, family-friendly activities, festival food and drinks, meet-and-greet opportunities, VIP experiences, and dramatic flyovers. Fans can also get up close with boat owners, racers, and teams throughout Washington Park for an unforgettable motorsports experience.

The 17th annual XINSURANCE Great Lakes Grand Prix runs this weekend at Washington Park in Michigan City, Indiana, with racing Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2 on a course of close to five miles along the southern shore of Lake Michigan. We have a record 79 entries on the roster across 14 classes, up from last years record of 70 teams, and several categories are at season highs: seven boats in Class 1, nine in Modified Vee and 14 in Super Stock, with six each in Super Cat and Class 2 and 17 more spread across the bracket classes. Michigan City remains one of the best places in the country to watch this sport. The beach and shoreline at Washington Park put you right on the course, viewing is free, and race week is packed with a boat parade, block party, brewfest and flyovers.

Michigan City is round two of the 2026 UIM World Championship Series. Our licensing agreement with the Union Internationale Motonautique, the Monaco-based international governing body for powerboat sport, runs through the 2031 season and brings full world championship status to UIM Offshore Class 1, UIM Offshore Class 2, known domestically as Class 2, and the APBA Super Cat class, with Super Stock added in July. Champions in those categories are honored at the UIM Annual Awards Ceremony in Monaco. Every event on our calendar also runs under full American Power Boat Association sanction and counts toward the APBA National Championship Series. The season opened at the Atlantic City Sports Offshore Grand Prix in New Jersey last month with 50 boats. After Michigan City we head to the Clearwater Nationals September 25 through 27, then close the year in Key West November 1 through 8.
