Last weekend alternator went out on the wife's ride.
Locally just under $500 for re manufactured at any of the normal suppliers.
$112 for NEW w/o core Amazon.
Less than 24 hours on my porch.
Was ready to pay extra to get it fixed and over with.
But not that much and I have had $hi+ luck with rebuilt alternators, starters, and motors
8 mph would have been pushing it at that point.
My Uncle installed all the HVAC for me when I moved in.
He was here last weekend for daughter's open house.
Thanked him for set up that lasted 30+ years
Told him how I band aided it all as long as I could knowing I would never get stuff that lasts as long again.
All this talk of A/C's conking out jinxed Me.....Mine went at 9 PM last Night....Threw a Fan in the Window and another on Me and made it through the night...Temp in the Bathroom this Morning 88 DEGREES.....compressor not starting...Gonna throw the emergency Window Unit in
(If I can carry it up the Stairs) and wait on the A/C Tech....On a Holiday Weekend...
I've always wondered about those cheap, "cool the room to freezing in 10 minutes", type goofy ads. Think any of them are true?

It has an internal evaporator coil of some kind.
So warm humid air goes in the closed unit. The warm air hits the cold evaporator coil and condenses. This removes water from the air and cools it. Cooler, drier air comes out. Ok. That's science.
But the closed unit part... is there a little chamber inside that compresses the water and hot air and you empty it later?
This was a big year for idiot fireworks in the neighborhood. I hoped the bad economy would knock it down some. It was pretty quiet last year. This year it was non-stop from around 9pm until a few minutes ago. I like freedom and all that. Not saying we should ban fun.
But damn fireworks appeal to the easily amused. After a few hours, I fail to see how "boom" holds the attention. I mean, unless this is a range and that's Tannerite. Then there is skill involved.
The air this morning is resemblant of the morning after Gettysburg.
Speaking of AC issues, power on the island is inconsistent, so Friday it kicked off on a couple times. I went into Morgan’s bedroom and the ac units are right outside her windows and they were loud rattling buzzing sound. I went out to see what was making the racket and it was quieter outside. Went back in a listened, the sound was coming from the wall where the AC lines run. Went back out and the copper line going into the house was vibrating, so I cut power to the units waited a couple minutes and turned them back on, no noise, weird
Good morning . I survived my first nighttime boating excursion last night. No moon or stars out. The intimidation factor was high but we made home safely.
The amount of large fireworks shot of by 8:30 is just crazy. You bunch of drunken idiots. You can’t even see them. Fee and Izzy and Fund are exhausted.
We stayed up and watched the largest fireworks display in the history of the World on TV.
After the first 20 minutes, it was tough to keep watching. It would have been really cool to see it live and close though. Over 850,000 shells supposedly in just under 40 minutes?
Yes. We anchored off of Little Palm Island resort to see the Picnic Island display. They were ok but nothing like the one at Ft McHenry in the Balto. Harbor. Still was a good night and Donna was pretty buzzed.
Neighbor that did fireworks (awesome) for decades retired last year.
New neighbor took over and did real well too.
1st year we watched from our beach instead of by boat.
Glad, probably most boat traffic afterwards ever.
AND...as you might expect, very little sense, caution, or care for maritime rules.
Pretty nice sitting onshore observing
