Englewood Beach Waterfest draws record crowds with powerboat races

Englewood Beach Waterfest drew record-breaking crowds on Saturday and Sunday, offering a thrilling mix of powerboat racing and community celebration.

Thousands attended the annual event, which doubled as a world championship for powerboat racing, making it the largest Waterfest yet.

Organizers reported a nearly 50% increase in turnout compared to previous years. The weekend kicked off with a lively block party on historic Dearborn Street, drawing over 7,000 attendees who enjoyed live music and boat displays.

The main event took place over Saturday and Sunday with high-speed powerboat races off Englewood Beach. In 2025, the festival hosted the American Power Boat Association’s national and world championship races, bringing excitement to Charlotte County.

This guy from WINK just cracked me up. He was around the pits and races pretty much all weekend. He put a footprint on the Kildahl's boat trailer, so we gave him a bad time while Kim Kildahl was wiping it off.....
