Anyone have experience with Jeep Wrangler 4dr Unlimited?

Thinking about purchasing one for the wife and need some feedback. I've been reading forums for about two weeks on them and not sure what to do with the info I've gathered.

Never been a Chrysler man and not sure I'm ready to make the move.

Mainly looking for build quality issues and reliability issues.

I had one. I sold it before the weather got nice, still regret it.. Its the only toy Ive bought and sold that I regret having sold it. Check with BLee.. He has a new one, its pretty sweet. Lift, wheels, tires and trackign down a bumper/winch for it now I think.

We have a regular wrangler. A TJ model. 4.0L 6.

Had one for a while, sold it, decided we missed it and went out and bought another.

Ours have been REAL reliable except for an O2 sensor which took roughly 3 minutes to replace. They are easy to work on, and isn't much to go wrong on them.

Gas mileage will be horrible under the best circumstances.

No balls but still pretty fun to drive. Plus with the 4 dr Wranglers you have a ton of room (for a Jeep).

He had the bumper and winch as of last week. He loves it.

I am actually thinking of looking at those myself when it comes time to get a newer vehicle. I still miss the hell out of my old YJ.

Yeah, I picked one up back in the Spring and it's been great. Like Insanity said, they have a ton of room in the backseat & rear. They could use more HP, but I regeared mine with 4.88's so that it would at least run the same as stock with the 35's.

So far I've done:

4 inch Rancho suspension lift w/RS9000's
35' Toyo Mud Country's
4.88 gears
Front & rear Warn Rock Crawler bumpers w/ rear tire mount
Warn Powerplant winch

The tops come off easily, and reseal to perfection when you reinstall them. I don't have any complaints with the quality inside or out, and the Navigation system kicks ass. I would definitely get one if you're on the fence about it, and reccommend getting the Rubicon. The others are nice, but you don't get the full undercarriage skid plates, push buttom lockers, or the push button sway bar connect. The Sahara's have some more comfort features available with them, but not the full offroad gear.

Very Sharp! I am considering one as well. I am not big on the 3.7l though. They should have kept the 4.0. I miss my jeep.

had a drip in mine..nothing major.. twice I came out and had about 1/4" of water in the cupholder.. carpets were still dry, just dripped right into the cupholder..

It probably has a lot to do with how the top is stored when it's not on the vehicle. However, I've had my top off quite a few different times, storing it both on the floor and now on the ceiling with cables, and haven't had any leaks. They did away with that old chitty seal material that used to rot, crack, or just come loose. It's all pretty tough stuff now, as long as you get it lined up good without creasing any of the foam seal on the corners.

These rigs look to be pretty fun and somewhat practical. I'd say they're in pretty high demand right now too. We've been trying to buy one for about a month now and can't get our hands on one. Currently waiting on our dealer to get his first shipment of 2010s before we get to own one.

Both these rigs are pretty basic. Lift, tires, and wheels. I believe the white one is a Rubicon. Neither customer chose to do any gearing. Oh, and both rigs were purchased and built for the Mom in the household too.

We went with the 2dr Wrangler.. Been a great vehicle, did a 2" lift, 35's.. gears to come eventually...

Also, is that your shop in the background? It looks HUGE! Very modern looking building. I remember you moving into a bigger shop a few years ago, but I wasn't sure what it looked like. :coolgleamA:

The Maroon one was my favorite of the two also. I still think the Red that you have has a little more pop to it though. The Maroon one has Nitto Mud Grapplers on it. Pretty agressive tire.

For me they are fun toys for around town but if you drive any long trips they suck. Kind of like my fathers 914. Blast to drive around town but if you are in it for 2 hours you are begging to get out.

Sweetie puss will be using it for her daily driver. About 3 miles to work one way. Also using it to run the kids around town for their activities through the summer. Anything longer than a thirty minute run and we will be in my truck.

I think it will be a fun vehicle for her. Just don't want to get something that gives me problems down the road.

My neighbor bought a 4 door one when they first came out. It is loaded and he wanted a manual transmission. I thought for sure it would be a 6 month vehicle for him since he traded cars frequently anyway. He has had it almost 3 years now and loves it. The only drawback is when he needs to travel the Jeep blows on the highway. He rented a car a few times when he couldn't steal his wife's suburban. To date it has never been off road......except if you count driving across a field to get closer to the baseball diamond!

I love my 03 Rubicon, Brandon if you want a lil more oomph, k&n cold air kit and a throttle body spacer, takes about half an hour to put both on, huge difference. then you can use a hyper-tech programmer and change a couple things to make it even more responsive, and get better mileage to boot.
