08-16-2009 10:37 AMWell, at least it was a sand landing... they may be able to save it without any major damage.
Friday night we had a local fishing boat who ran up on the beach. Luckilly the boat was ok.

I used to have a condo right on the ocean and Shark River Inlet in Belmar, NJ. One morning I woke up to see a big sportfish that drove right onto the beach about 100' south of the inlet. Owners draped a tarp over the transom so no one would know what boat it was when the pics made the paper.
If this guy was that far up on the beach, and had the drives up, maybe he was sinking and intentionally beached it?

the weather was crappy Fri night and if they came in in a rainstorm it might explain the wrong side of the jetty... at least they didn't HIT the jetty..

Back when they had fireworks off of Haulover Beach I was there and watched a 27 Magnum hit the rock jetty, He almost jumped the whole friggin thing. That was the 3rd boat I saw up on the jetty in 27 yrs of living there.

Maybe they meant to park it there due to the fact the cover is on the boat

I talked to a guy that knows him and he said the guy and his wife were out running in the gulf friday night and when they came back in he missed the cut back into the bay. Said he hid 2 big waves and then somthing a little bit more solid. Haven't heard about the condition of the boat yet but I'm pretty sure they are OK.

08-17-2009 09:12 PMmisread the inlet, turned b4 the inlet, rode a wave up on the beach, no injuries, both were ok, pulled the boat off the beach,i believe the following day, towed it into the harbor, then drove the boat back to the dock where they were staying. boats & riders all seem to be ok- very lucky

good news, that what the basis of my original comment ,if people were thrown and injured they would not have put the cover on.
