Does anyone do it? I have one that is starting to drip out the weep hole. I took the back cover off and it seems the only part that is "marine" is the stainless back cover and bolts....would a automotive one work if I re-use the back cover?
Merc wants about $300 for a new one.

If the pump shaft has to be replaced it can get expensive. Also, the pulley mount was put on crooked and I had to send it back. I think I got an auto parts house to cross ref the Merc part number and got the exact pump for $170 or so with the ss backing plate. Try that b4 Merc.

BTW if you do send your merc pump for rebuild do not send it with the ss backing plate. They don't need a backing plate to rebuild.

11-04-2008 06:46 PMWhy rebuild when you can buy a new one for $85? I bought 3 from them and all are still going strong. 1 was mine and other 2 went on 2 friends boats.
As answered on OSO.
