Does anyone do it? I have one that is starting to drip out the weep hole. I took the back cover off and it seems the only part that is "marine" is the stainless back cover and bolts....would a automotive one work if I re-use the back cover?
Merc wants about $300 for a new one.

11-04-2008 05:43 PMIf the pump shaft has to be replaced it can get expensive. Also, the pulley mount was put on crooked and I had to send it back. I think I got an auto parts house to cross ref the Merc part number and got the exact pump for $170 or so with the ss backing plate. Try that b4 Merc.

11-04-2008 05:44 PMBTW if you do send your merc pump for rebuild do not send it with the ss backing plate. They don't need a backing plate to rebuild.

11-04-2008 06:46 PMWhy rebuild when you can buy a new one for $85? I bought 3 from them and all are still going strong. 1 was mine and other 2 went on 2 friends boats.
